aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa [Nov. 22nd, 2009|04:49 pm]
[Current sounds |Iwasaki Taku-'Libera me' from hell]

So I have some memes to do, but I decided instead to talk about Friday night, because oh was it a night.

Friday night was MST night at the anime club, which I mentioned a few weeks ago. It turns out that we would bend the rules a bit to show some licensed stuff. The list of things was:

The American Street Fighter cartoon (funny enough, it was the YES! YEEEEEEEES! episode)

Batman: Gotham Knight (not because it was bad, but because seeing Kevin Conroy's voice come out of a bishonen is hilarious and disturbing, not to mention Morgan Fox discussing Bruce's "boyish charms")

Queen's Blade (Where the only law in the country is that you must always show your cleavage)

Several scenes from Musashi Gun (basically an anime with lazy animation, stupid usage of guns, and pictures as backgrounds)

Macron 1 (a very 80s anime movie that was just like, spliced scenes from several series and episodes and reused footage)

And then Starfish Hitler.

Japan is weird.

But oh our night did not stop there. After that, we went on our usual nightly dinner run to Denny's. The waitress we had knows the club from last year, so she was pretty friendly with us. She even sang to us, having us go in at some parts. On our way out, we saw another group who overheard how we had sung earlier, and was wondering if we were a singer group. We laughed and said no, but it turns out that the group he was with was. SFSU's Choir Group, which just got off a gig. All 22 of them came out and sang a short song for us, and man, it was just really cool to listen to it.

Okay, that's enough procrastinating. *gets back to paper*

Christmas Cards [Nov. 21st, 2009|08:16 pm]
[Current sounds |Not Christmas music, nope]

Yes, it's that time of year again! Santa has begun appearing on the Coca-cola cans, so Christmas is coming. And that means I'm doing Christmas Cards again this year.

If anyone would like a card, feel free to comment with your address. Comments are screened, so only you and I will be seeing them. I may be going in a less creative way this year, but I promise you that they will still not disappoint.... or maybe they will. I guess it depends on who you are.

My friend Keith [Nov. 19th, 2009|11:26 pm]

L4D2 is too fun. I'm actually getting a little worried about school because of it, but I think I'll get this out of my system over the fall break... not that I'm not busy during that break of course. But we'll see. Managed to finally "complete" Dead Center and Dark Carnival last night with some friends. I say "complete", because both times managed to have a Tank appear between me and the rescue vehicle. As my friend put it, L4D2 is at some times a giant "fuck you" to players (Infinite Horde in Dead Center, Tank in the safe room (okay, that was just bad luck), 30 or so Witches in one map, a map where a section is FILLED with car alarms, and don't get me started on the finale of The Parish). Still, the game is stupid fun with friends, and the AI is... stupid stupid. Case in point, from [info]emh4ever:

Probably not gonna update tomorrow either 8D

IT'S A BITCH APOCOLYPSE NOW, BITCH! [Nov. 17th, 2009|11:28 pm]
[Current sounds |Kajiura Yuki-Sei Otome no Inori]

So is it just me, or is there a practically never-ending horde in the mall level of Dead Center? I've played this on Advanced, and it seems like just as we're done killing the first horde, another one starts up once we get out of the first little department store. I tried it on Normal, and it seemed the same, just less zombies. I'm not sure though. Maybe it was just because I was going a little faster on Normal.

But it's still fun. Gotta get around to playing on all the campaigns and such. Plan on doing the campaigns with some friends, but I'll probably do versus on my own for a bit, so long as it's Dead Center for now, since that's the only one I've... almost beaten.

Starting to also get a little stressed out of other things to do, but I think Fall Break will be a good time to catch up.

Infected [Nov. 16th, 2009|09:24 pm]
[Current sounds |Jim Noir-My Patch]

So uh, pretty sure this isn't allergies.

Last night was pretty horrid. Couldn't fall asleep until about 2 AM, and then woke up at 4 AM, and again at 9 AM at which point I decided I should get moving anyway. The day then consisted of breezing through the Chinese History test, and then chilling out with a smoothie and some hot and sour soup... which made me feel a little sick. I guess the two didn't mix well together.

After that, I went to review for my Adolescent Psych quiz, and while talking the test itself, the teacher kept going around me when I was sneezing, I guess to make sure I wasn't cheating (she caught two others cheating earlier). When I handed in my test, she told me to get some rest. That felt kinda nice.

Got home, took a sudafed, and pretty much played Borderlands. Got a fever around 7, but it doesn't seem to be serious. Might take an advil if it bothers me later. Havn't had any stomach aches for a while though, so that's good news. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow for class.

And dammit Valve, you're blue balling me here.

What do I win?! [Nov. 15th, 2009|11:19 pm]
[Current sounds |The Pillows-Another Morning]

I finished my paper and Tales of the Abyss today. You can probably guess which one I did first. Although I knew the ending of Abyss already (I had seen the anime), the story is still quite powerful. A very challenging final boss fight too, which is good. More games should be like that. I kept wanting to play a new game + when I was done, but... like most other RPG games, I really don't want to sit through everything again. So I probably won't.

I may've finished my paper, but I didn't study much for TWO tests that I have tomorrow. Sucks, but I'm trying a new theory anyway. I've been studying a bit throughout the week, just a bit here and there, so hopefully this new way will work.

Also sneezing and have a slight sore throat, but here's hoping it's allergies and not because the person next to me in history class was coughing, or the person in anime club...

I love this meme [Nov. 14th, 2009|10:38 pm]
[Current sounds |Song #20]

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever music player you have on random.
Step 2: Post a line/stanza from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Bold the songs when someone guesses correctly

I should be better at keeping up with this [Nov. 12th, 2009|04:13 pm]
[Current sounds |http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMbVPMzSqYY]

Happy birthday [info]itslily!

Speaking of better at keeping up with things, I think I should start doing a to-do list again. Often I would do it last semester and the one before to keep on top of things, but I never had that much to do. Still, wouldn't hurt I guess. Most of it is school stuff, but on the backburner is doing something in a video game, working on cosplay (or rather, starting on it), and washing my car.

And my friends have decided that Valve is purposely trying to undermine the education system by releaseing L4D2 on Monday.

Fast update because it got late [Nov. 8th, 2009|11:28 pm]
[Current sounds |Flight of the Bamboo Cutter - 竹取飛翔 ~ Lunatic Princess]

Today was a pretty fun day, despite me deciding not to work on my paper after all. First, played some Starcraft for the first time in a while, and actually won.... but then got steamrolled in the rematch. Pretty fun though. Protoss is not the way to go though after having a break.

After that, tried out the Left 4 Dead 2 demo. I must say, I'm really actually considering buying this game now. It's a blast, and is actually much more different than the first one. Everything looks nicer, the new infected changes the battle, and the new weapons are fun as hell (assault sniper rifle, a freaking MAGNUM, grenade launcher, etc). Just gotta make sure I do it early to save some money and get some of the bonuses I guess.

Speaking of zombies, Zombieland was pretty good. Funny moments, and a very amusing ending sequence. If you don't like gore though, you'll probably be barlwing throughout the movie. And you certainly wouldn't want to see Saw VI, which actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. A little dragged on, and certainly not as good as the first one, but it wasn't as bad as the Saws between 3 and 5. Still, you'd want to see the others to get the story.

This is why I need to update faster [Nov. 7th, 2009|10:49 pm]
[Current sounds |강적들 - Powerful Opponents OP Remix]

Last night was pretty fun. We watched some western cartoons for a change in the anime club. I only stayed for the first one though, which was the entire series (five episodes) of "The Maxx". Very interesting, and it's actually streaming on MTV.com now. Check it out if you want a bit of 90s psychological cartoon. http://www.mtv.com/shows/the_maxx/series.jhtml

There was also a fun game, but I forget what it was called. Basically it was a "card game" in which you played as characters in D&D who just finished a quest, and are trying to get their friends drunk before they get too drunk/get all their money. It was pretty fun, and roleplaying was encouraged, which made it more enjoyable. After that, we went to our usual Denny's outing, where they found out it was our co-leader's birthday. Because they're used to them coming for a few years, they sang happy birthday, and one of the waitresses, this slightly big Latino woman started singing while this middle aged Asian woman began Thriller dancing. It was amazing.

I ended up getting home late though, so didn't feel like updating. Just spent the time playing Borderlands (which takes up the whole screen, and oddly, crashes whenever I alt tab). Good stuff though. Oh yeah, and I saw Zombieland and Saw VI, but I'll talk about that next update.

Watch out for snakes [Nov. 4th, 2009|10:40 pm]
[Current sounds |Silent Hill 2-Dog Ending Music]

My anime club is doing something pretty fun next week (or is it the week after?). They're planning to show really terrible anime in the viewing room, and just having everyone watch it Mystery Science Theater 3000 style, yelling out flaws as we're watching.

One of the problems though is that we're not allowed to show any licensed anime (they've gotten in trouble for it in the past).

So if anyone had any suggestions, it would be appreciated! A list of unlicensed anime can be found here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime-list.php?limit_to=&showT=1&licensed=0&sort=title

Oh right, so [Nov. 1st, 2009|10:55 pm]
[Current sounds |どぶウサギ-もう歌しか聴こえない]

Things actually went down this weekend.

Friday night, my sister was having her birthday party. I came back home early, because most of the anime club people were off at a convention, so things were pretty mellow for a while. When I came back, there was a bit of people, but more were showing up. Wasn't much of a problem, though one person almost started a fight. He ended up just getting all pissy and left though. Apparently he's done this at other parties. Whatever.

My main gripe was the problem later at night. I should tell you, the way our house is, my room is between the back room and the front room. The only way to get back there is via the side yard outside, my room, or through the master bedroom and bathroom. So, since my mom went to sleep, people had to go through my room to get from the kitchen/front/other bathroom to the back. This wasn't much of a problem, as I wasn't busy doing anything or whatever. The problem started at around 1:30 AM. I had to take a test the next morning, as I warned some people. Most were cool with it, but they don't have much other options on things to do. They were generally pretty quiet, but some weren't, sometimes leaving the doors open even with me awkwardly just laying in bed.

When I finally fell asleep at around 2:30, things were pretty fine. I woke up in the middle of the night at 4 AM for some reason though. I adjusted myself, and felt something strange next to me. I felt it was the rubber prop hand we had outside, someone was just screwing with me, so I picked it up to drop off my bed. I picked it up, and felt it hit the side of the wall.

... Wait... felt it?

Turns out it was right arm, completely cut off of circulation. When I raised it, I saw it twist around twice to it's normal position, partially freaking me out. I shook it around til I could feel it again, felt a little discomfort, but it was fine.

In the end, I managed to wake up on time for the test. I wasn't too nervous for it, especially since I woke up in time for it. I had to bring three things: Photo ID, pencils and pen, and.... oh, what was that other thing.... Oh yeah!

THE RECEIPT THAT SHOWED THAT I PAID TO TAKE THE TEST THAT I LEFT RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY COMPUTER SO I WOULDN'T FORGET

In the end, I had to speed back home and had my dad drive me to campus. I didn't even have to worry about being late, as they were letting people in who were late anyway, but whatever. It worked out in the end, and I think I did alright on the test.

It also dawned on me that my film paper is due in two weeks. I need to get down to that soon.

... Wow, more Touhou music.
